Review
This is the first time I've written a review for a c-drama and I'm doing it for my love for the main leads. After I read the synopsis, I thought, yeah, why not... the story seems light, so I'll give it a shot. Eventually, I found myself waiting for the next episode to air. Now, it's a love story set in a fantasy world, so drop any expectations properly. It's meant to be a feel-good drama that shows you different languages and expressions of love. That is, some can be pure, brave, and selfless in love, while others can be secretly gratifying, while others can be obsessive, selfish, and destructive. And this is woven into the lore and character development. I read the manhwa - it's very different from the series, so this is just a loose adaptation (manhwa, I think, hasn't been developed since early 2020). But for me, this series is better because the characters are fleshed out compared to the comics. I also think the actors are well chosen. They fit their roles well, and most of them are able to show the inner struggles of the characters. Of course, there are many areas that need improvement, but the actors ultimately grow on you. Some things that left a good impression on me are Wu Qian Yin's (Shi Xia) small-scale expression. Zhao Ying Bo's (Hou Chi) swordplay, combined with my goodness, he looks amazing in white. And the old story of Dai Yun Fan's (Shi Dong) brother. The comic lines are also fresh and funny. However, there are still scenes where I feel the acting is mediocre. They are not bad, but they are not bad either. Finally, I love the musical score. Even though I don't understand Mandarin, the emotions conveyed in the music are really good. I especially like the ending song (Travel with me) - the music is really cool and the song expresses the deep sadness of not being able to be with your partner. It doesn't mean that the story will end badly for the character. In fact, I think it's a good compromise.
