I discovered this series while it was being heavily promoted on my YouTube timeline. Which is funny because I don't really watch many C-dramas. I was impressed by the clips they showed and Miss Song was really attractive.
After 36 episodes, here are the things I found interesting/odd:
I agree with those who said that ShaSha seems to have had a nurturing upbringing, especially considering her mother's personality. However, she studied abroad for many years, so what? Doesn't that seem inconsistent? It's really nice to see her grow up and stand up to her mom before she leaves for Africa.
The fact that Huasheng agreed to help Yuyi do its IPO is interesting. Huasheng must know that Yuyi’s stated goal is to create a product to directly compete with and ultimately replace Huasheng. Other than the lucrative contract, what incentive is there for Huasheng to help Yuyi? And allowing your frontline employee (FL) to date and have a relationship with the CEO of this competitor is a headache I want to go to HR to figure out. Xixi is right to complain to her boss that she needs to get out of the loop to avoid a conflict of interest.
I think they really dropped the ball with the final episode: Is it over and Miss Tong misses the wedding? And did XiXi’s mother vouch for it? When I first saw this, I thought, “Oh, sis, they’re back with the sisters who curse at each other?” Her excuse for not attending because of class travel is lame. Just pay for the actress and write this last episode for God's sake! And the final scene: Where are they? The UK? Europe? The fact that they're not married is strange and definitely goes against the rest of the show.
Does ML love FL? I think so, a lot. But he's a typical techie: arrogant, smart, and clueless all at the same time. So he loves his company and the possibilities of AI too. I want them to force ML to choose between his company and her. They're both trying to have it both ways. And FL loves him, but she has too much baggage in her life that she's just starting to deal with. Her loyalty to her company is unmatched in this day and age (at least here in the US), especially considering they dropped her TWICE. She should have been more ambitious and went to Yuyi as a translation consultant.
