Plot Summary
To protect her family's noble position, He Yan, the eldest daughter of the He family, is forced to wear a mask and become the eldest son of the "He Ru Fei" family. As a child, He Yan meets the great scholar Xiao Jue at Xianchang Academy. Determined to escape her family's fate, she leaves school and heads to the battlefield.
Years later, He Yan returns home as a renowned hero, but is betrayed by her family when her older brother He Ru Fei reappears. Surviving the betrayal, He Yan assumes a new identity as He Yan, the daughter of the city gate official, and disguises herself as a man to join the military in Yezhou, vowing to take back everything that was taken from her.
In Yezhou, He Yan befriends the gentle Chu Zhao and crosses paths with Xiao Jue again. However, Xiao Jue suspects He Yan of being a spy and constantly tests her. Despite her doubts, He Yan clings to Xiao Jue and proves her mettle by becoming the top soldier in Yezhou's defense force. Through various trials, including the Sun family incident, Princess Ji Yang's mission, and the battle to protect Rundu, the two face life and death together and gradually understand each other's true feelings.
